Pretty solid weekend here, I must say. Friday was spent mostly getting caught up on some of my favorite TV shows on Hulu. Also did some cleaning around the house, dusting did occur. Went to Target for a few items, felt pretty domestic.
Saturday rolled around and I actually got up before noon. Drove down to one of my favorite areas in Charlotte, South End/Dilworth to meet up with good co-worker and friend Kelly for some coffee. She was doing some research for her thesis and I grabbed my book (Mr. Peanut) for review. Good atmosphere, enjoyed the coffee from Caribou and of course, got a 15 minute time out for talking too much (heck, we were supposed to be reading) which I laughed about later when she tried to talk to me prior to that timeframe expiring. After coffee we hit Cantina 1511 for some lunch, Mexican-style. Pretty good atmosphere, overall a great time with Kelly.
After my visit with Kelly, I headed up north to drop off a CD with Sarah and get some money for the cabin which is just a few short weeks away! We ended up as well, grabbing coffee, and catching up on the last few weeks. Lots going on her way, so it was nice to see how the other was doing and of course, we shared some laughs. (Speaking of dogs... was one of them!)
Dropped by Wade's house after my visit with Sarah to see the boys. Shawna and her sister were out shopping, so I didn't get to see them, but a quick stop to catch up with Brady and Soren is a good thing.
Later that evening, we had about a dozen guys over to watch the UFC fight and play some poker. I got down to bare bones, with some crazy luck I came back and ended up splitting the winnings with Ronnie in the first game. Game 2 I didn't fare as well, but still ended up a few dollars, after some "I'll take the other guy" bets on the fight with Wade.
Sunday was Super Bowl time and I forced my way into Jim's house to watch with his whole family. I cheered for Green Bay since everyone was going for Pittsburgh and K-State alum Jordy Nelson is on their squad. Gave his middle son Evan a hard time and every time Jordy caught a ball I'd say "all he does is catch first downs" which was the catch phrase of the evening. Played some Ping Pong with Evan, who hasn't learned that, unlike baseball, you're not trying to hit the ball as hard as you can. Overall a great game, good commercials, poor performances and a perfect weekend!
